The Local Studio is a boutique, full-service interior design firm based in Muskoka, Ontario — and working wherever our clients live and invest. Across lake houses, mountain retreats, oceanfront residences, rural farms and urban homes, we create deeply personal interiors that respond to the architecture, the landscape and the people who live within them.
We do not have a signature look. Every home we design begins with listening — and ends with something that could not have been created for anyone else but you.

Every home we create starts with a thorough understanding of how you live — your rhythms, your taste, the specific way a space needs to work for you. The aesthetic that emerges is yours. Our role is to find it, refine it and execute it without compromise.
Running through every project we take on is a commitment to biophilic design — not as a visual style, but as a foundational philosophy. Through natural materials, light, texture, organic form and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape, we create homes that feel grounded and restorative across every setting. A lakeside cottage, a mountain chalet and a contemporary urban residence can all be profoundly biophilic. The expression changes. The intention does not.
And because our clients are busy, the process is structured so thoroughly that it rarely feels like one. We are organized, proactive and precise — from the first conversation to the final installation.
